Spring ’17 10×10: Outfit 7

What I did:
On the agenda for this day in real time was work and lunch out with a friend, and since Hubs was still on his work trip, I followed that with an evening of watching the recent mini series adaptation of Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None, which I recently received as a birthday present. The book, in my opinion, is one of the finest murder mysteries ever, being both incredibly well written and intensely suspenseful, and the adaptation did not disappoint. So good. So creepy, but so good. Probably should have waited until I wasn’t home alone to watch it…oops.

What I wore:
Ok, so I’m finally, truly, and honestly running out of those go-to outfits…maybe. The weather was beautiful and warm, so again I picked up my sleeveless floral tunic. I’ve worn this floral tunic top with these jeans before, and it never really struck me as awesome. There’s something about tunics that make me feel like I’m an isosceles triangle marshmallow clad in a pillowcase (#pearshapeproblems!). And since this challenge is all about mixing things up, I decided to tuck the top in.

What worked:
This was a bold move for me. And I like this. A whole lot more than I expected. I’ve tucked this top into skirts (see outfit 5 of this challenge) and high-waisted trousers, but never jeans. Tucking the top in really cut down on the pillowcase feeling and gave me a loose, but not too loose top to balance out the skinny jeans. I also love that it reduces the amount of print. I’m a big fan of flowers, especially real ones, but I often find that prints can overwhelm my features easily, and I feel like tucking the top in gives me more figure-flattering proportions as well as a better denim-to-flower ratio.

What didn’t work:
As much as I love this outfit, it does still make me self-conscious about my hips. I love these skinny jeans for their fit, comfort, and functionality, but the main reason I almost never tuck anything into them is that, when I do, I feel as though the full width of my hips are on display…it’s something I’m working on being ok with, but I can’t say it’s the most flattering look for me.

Ok, just 3 more outfits to go! We can do this! See you tomorrow for outfit 8!
